John holds a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of California at Irvine. During his college years, he converted to Orthodoxy through the Antiochian Archdiocese. He has acquired experience in a diverse variety of fields including fine and graphic art, iconography, computer programming, and teaching. He apprenticed with Iconographer Phil Zimmerman at the Antiochian Village in the late-80's and some of John's iconography is available through orthodoximages.com. John is currently working as a public school teacher in Central California which has given him an even greater appreciation for the fact that his own children are educated at home by his wife. They have homeschooled for nineteen years and are now in the homestretch with six more years to go to complete the K through 12th grade education of their seven children at home.
