John holds a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of California at Irvine. In the mid-eighties, he converted to Orthodoxy through the Antiochian Archdiocese. He has acquired experience in a diverse variety of fields including graphic art, iconography, computer programming, and teaching. He apprenticed with Iconographer Phil Zimmerman at the Antiochian Village in the late-80's and some of John's iconography is available through orthodoximages.com. John is currently working as a public school teacher in Central California which has given him an even greater appreciation for the fact that his own children are homeschooled. He and his wife are in their 19th year of homeschooling their seven children (family photo dated 2006).
